Explore the fascinating history of Chicago’s historic Prairie Avenue district with three great tours in one! Our guide and docent will be the Executive Director of Glessner House and author of Chicago’s Historic Prairie Avenue, William Tyre. We will have a personal tour of Glessner House, the monumental and revolutionary design by architect H.H. Richardson, with its richly restored interiors. Following that will be a walk down Prairie Avenue, Chicago’s original Gold Coast, richly interpreted by Tyre. Finally, we will tour the sanctuary of the 1874 Gothic Revival Second Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue, with its beautiful Tiffany windows.
This tour is not ADA accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Travelers will board a bus at the Dawes House at 9:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.
