Spirited Exhibit Party

Join us to celebrate the exhibit, “Spirited.” This free event features live music by the Chris Mahieu Trio. Guests will enjoy a light reception of appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks, tour the exhibit “Spirited,” and also view “Dry Evanston: The Untold Story,” the companion exhibit that tells the local story of prohibition.

The Evanston History Center offers lively docent-led walking tours of Evanston neighborhoods, downtown, and the lakefront. The tours provide fun and fascinating insights into the history of Evanston, its architecture, and the cultural landscape.

All tours, unless otherwise stated, meet at the Evanston History Center, 225 Greenwood Street, Evanston.

Hours
Tours vary and are occasionally repeated.

Tours begin at 11:00 AM and last for 90 minutes.

Admission
The cost is $20 per person/$15 for members unless otherwise stated. Admission is payable at the door.

We do reserve the right to cancel due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Parking
Free street parking is available on Greenwood Street.

Once a year the five Century of Progress landmark homes are open for tours. The date for 2019 is Saturday, September 28; this one day is the only date this year that these private homes are open to the public, therefore tickets sell out almost immediately after the offer goes live. We have partnered with Design Evanston in a rare opportunity to reserve in advance a block of tickets for our members.

EHC will provide chartered bus transportation to and from the Indiana Dunes National Park. The bus will depart at 12:30 pm from the Dawes House and return to Evanston about 6:30 pm. The cost of the travel tour package is $125, which includes bus travel, tour ticket, and a box lunch. A presentation on the history of the Dunes, the Century of Progress, and the houses are also included.

*Unfortunately, this tour is not fully accessible: it involves stairs and extended walking and standing.
